SWWLA Meeting

Members attending:  Bob, Sandy R., Kirk, Peggy, Ernie, Kyle.

 

The meeting was opened by President Sharon Kitashima.

 

The minutes were read by Secretary Sharon Rico.  Cathy moved the Minutes be accepted as read, Lori seconded the motion and it was passed.

 

Sharon gave the Treasurer’s Report.  There is $11,425.26 in checking including $7475.41 from a matured CD.  The savings balance is $168.52.  Cathy moved the Treasurer’s Report be accepted as read, Martha seconded the motion and it was passed.  Lori moved that $6000.00 be invested in a liquid CD at B of A.  Martha seconded the motion and it was passed.

 

Martha Brooks reported that the next Newsletter deadline was March 20th.  She asked for information for the Llama Affaire and Panhandle Camp.

 

Peggy Gresham reported that there is a date change for the Panhandle Camp event to June 13,14.  The lodge was not available for the May date.  There are new classes being offered this year.  Fly tying by Middle Earth Packing and Fiber by Chloe Kauffman.

 

Lori reported that there is an agent in Vancouver that is excited to try to help us find better insurance.  Kirk talked to Tom Musser to see if we would qualify under Clark County Fair insurance.

 

The Fundraiser Dinner profit was $2992.00 and was up from last year.

 

Martha reported on the 4-H Groups.  March 8th is 4-H in Action and they are working on the New Handler redesign.  Nikki Kuklenski will be the judge at Clark County Fair.

 

There was an open discussion on SWWLA hosting a hospitality table at the Cascade Llama Sale with the restrictions sent out by the Board of Cascade Llama Sale.  Larry moved that we not host the hospitality table at the Sale this year, Lori seconded the motion and it was passed.

 

Larry Raley reported that most of the volunteers are in place for the Llama Affaire.  A ribbon runner is needed for Sunday and we still need a photographer.  Bob is getting the obstacle diagrams ready to send.

 

Peggy reported on the WVLF Fundraiser.  The program deadline is tomorrow.  There are 170 dinner reservations so far, a fabulous Stud line-up and phone bidding this year.

 

Larry reported that the Fort Worth Llama Sale on Jan. 19th had 45 llamas and averaged $1179. each llama.

 

Cathy reported that there is a discussion going on about how to even the playing field in ALSA Performance Llamas.  Ideas are ready to be heard.

 

Cathy moved to adjourn the meeting, Martha seconded the motion and it was passed.
